Tombstone Tuesday - June 23, 2015 - Dorothy Ann Morgan Hayner Skilling

Dorothy Ann Morgan Hayner Skilling

Dorothy Ann Morgan was the daughter of David Morgan and Charlotte Fox born on November 22, 1841 in Louth, Lincoln, Ontario. She married Robert Wesley Hayner in Canada on Dec 30, 1862.

Dorothy Ann Morgan as a young woman not sure if this is her Wedding photo or not.

Their first daughter, Addie Jane Hayner, was born on December 19, 1863 in Canada. Mary Morgan Hayner was their second daughter and she was born in Port Hope, Michigan on October 21, 1871.

She survived her first husband by 34 years. Robert Wesley died in 1896 in a farming accident. After the death of her husband Dorothy went to live with daughter Addie Jane Morgan Stranahan and her husband John. She was recorded with them in both the 1900 and 1910 Federal Census.

They lived in Detroit on 28 Palliters Ave.  This photo was likely taken about 1910.  I an estimating based on how old Francis looks.  In the 1920 Census, she was living with Mary Morgan Densmore and her husband Charles in Marine City. Dorothy Ann Hayner married William Skilling on March 10 1920. She moved to Yale and lived the remainder of her life there. She died on June 20, 1930 and was buried in Rosehill Cemetery next to her first husband, Robert Wesley Hayner.

If I had not seen this obit, I would not have known for sure that Dorothy did eventually remarry William Skilling and live the rest of her life in Yale, Michigan.

Happy Hunting,

Jan
