Long time...

It has been a long time since I have been here.  A lot of things have changed.  We moved.  I had to pack my genealogy stuff first and it went into storage for a few months.  We moved from Illinois to Michigan, about 7 1/2 hours away. We now live in a small farm town on Lake Huron.  It is quiet and much different than the suburbs of Chicago.  We love it!  Moving is a huge job after living in the same place for nearly 20 years.  It really consumed the whole year of 2014...between getting the Illinois house ready to sell, sell it, our belongings packed, a new house found and bought, belongs brought here and unpacked....I must say...I do not want to do that again. It took me months to unpack and put things away. So glad it is done!

I also had wonderful new distracts, like a fully planted garden.

But best of all, I have three sisters and one brother who all live nearby.  We get to walk together, shop together and spent as much time as we want together.  I have lived away from them for 33 years.  It is like coming home! It is wonderful.  I did not realize that I filled so much of my time with other activities because I lived away from them.

Our new old home..
No sooner did we get here and begin to get settled and it was time to start canning the stuff from the garden.  Needless to say, my genealogy research was put on a back burner and that has been where it remained.

On Monday I will be going to Florida with my sister, Pam, to see my sister Sue and her husband Bob.  While we are there I will visit with a relative who will share with me old photo's from our Canadian Hainer and Densmore families. I am taking my PC and a portable scanner so I can scan them into my computer.  I am excited to get back at the hunt.

In April we will be traveling to Boston for the marathon (my brother will run it) and along the way we will stay in Niagara.  While there I plan to see Corlene Taylor, another Hainer relative so I can provider her with the Hainer photos.  She has wanted to get them for years but had no opportunity.  I am excited to be able to help her out.

So I am planning to start blogging again...regularly.

Happy Hunting,

Jan
