 Mary Agnes Denny (Denney)




Mary Agnes Denney (Denny) was born in Brooke County ,Virginia on March 21, 1852. She was the daughter of Walter and Mary A (Young) Denney. In the 1860 Census she is a 7 year old child living in Allen County, Indiana. As a 17 year year old in 1870 she is living at home. Her Mother Mary has died and Walter is a widower with several grown children living with him. In the 1880 Census she is a single woman still living with her widowed father in Allen County, Indiana. She died at the age of 34 on December 22, 1886. She is buried in the Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville, Indiana in the Denney Family Plot with her Mother and Father.

Tombstone Tuesday - December 15, 2015 - Mary Overly Wagaman

Mary Overly Wagaman


Mary Overly was the daughter of Martin and Mary Polly (Welch) Overly.  She was born in Chilicothe, Ohio in 1802.  She married Jacob Wagaman in Darke Couny, Ohio on October 27, 1825.They had ten children; Susannah(1829), Nancy Ann(1830), John William(1833), Sarah(1834), Catharine(1836), Elizabeth(1838), Phebe(1840), Solomon(1841), Dorothy Ann(1844), Jacob(1846). In the 1830 Federal Census, Jacob,  Mary and Susannah are found in Greenville, Ohio. By the 1840 Census, the Wagaman's are found with 1 son and three daughters in Richland Township in Darke County, Ohio. They remained there in the  1850 Census, and now have 10 children which are listed above.  At the time of the 1860 Census, that have moved to Buck Creek in Hancock County, Indiana and have the three youngest children still at home. They are living near John Wagaman and his wife. Mary and Jacob are back in Ohio in Noble, Auglaize, Ohio by the time of the 1870 Federal Census living near their son, Jacob JrJacob Jr. has only two children listed and no wife.


Mary Polly Overly Wagaman died on December 15, 1872 in Auglaize County, Ohio.  I have not found her grave site as of yet  but I am still looking.  The photo was obviously a small tin type which I have cleaned up as best I can. I found it on Ancestry.com in a Wagaman Family Tree.  It is stated that it is of Jacob and Mary Wagaman. Thanks for publishing the photo.

Tombstone Tuesday - December 8, 2015 - Elizabeth McGoogan Clark

Elizabeth McGoogan Clark

Elizabeth McGoogan was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth McGoogan born in Westmoreland, Pennesylvaina on August 31, 1812. She was the fourth of eleven children in the Robert McGoogan family. They were; Jane (1804), Rachel (1808), Sarah (1811), Elizabeth (1812), Clementine (1815), John (1815), Robert (1820), William (1823), Angeline (1827), Joshua (1828), and Mary Ann (1832).

Elizabeth married Daniel Clark on April 13, 1833 in Harrison County, Ohio. In the 1840 Census, the Clark family resided in Harrison County, Ohio. They had ten children; Charles (1834), Sarah (1834), William (1836), Robert (1839), Ruth (1841), Benjamin (1843), Elizabeth (1843), Oscar (1846), Sophia (1847), Watson (1850). By the 1850 Census, the Family had moved to Lafayette Township, Allen County, Indiana. Daniel Clark has received 80 acres of land from the US Land Bureau.

Elizabeth Clark died on December 8, 1881 and is buried in Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville, Indiana.

Tombstone Tuesday - December 1, 2015 - Minnie Ruth Denney Lew

Minnie Ruth Denney Lew

She was Born on March 13, 1881, the daughter of Walter Rolandus Denney Jr and Nancy Isabella Bly. Married to Oscar Elmer Lew on December 25, 1903 in Roanoke, Indiana.  They had two children; Garnet Elma Lew born in 1906 and William Harold Lew born in 1911.

They had two children; Garnet Elma Lew born in 1906 and William Harold Lew born in 1911. In the 1910 Federal Census, Oscar, Minnie and the children are living in the 18th Ward of Chicago, Illinois.
They are in Leyden, Illinois in the 1930 Federal Census. By the 1940 Census, they have returned to Wells County, Indiana and are living in Uniondale, Indiana.

She died on Dec 1, 1972 in Fort Wayne Indiana. Buried in St Johns Cemetery, Zanesville, Indiana.
